Scarlet Tanager

Scarlet Tanager

I really look forward to this bird every year. This year I spotted the female lst and knew the male would be close by and easy to spot.  Even the cardinal can’t come close to the coloring of this Scarlet Tanager. The male is so brightly colored and it probably helps with the contrast of the black wings.

Loving the Pond…

Pair of Blackburnian Warblers

Bath anyone? These two Blackburnian Warblers are sure enjoying the pond.  Our pond has brought more wildlife and birds to the yard than we could have ever imagined. So glad we have it and it’s so peaceful and tranquil to listen too.

Wilson’s Warbler

Wilson's Warbler

I was so excited when this Wilson’s Warbler came into our yard. Thanks to my husband, Bruce, who spotted him. I’m not sure if this is a young male or a female. The male definitely has a “black” cap and this is not the case here. Regardless, I’m happy that he/she stopped by.

Palm Warbler

Palm Warbler

I took this photo last Spring and I was hoping to see another Palm Warbler this year, but not to be I guess.  This is such a pretty little bird and he kind of reminds me of a chipping sparrow.

Just so colorful..

Blackburnian Warbler

Couldn’t resist putting another picture of this beautiful Blackburnian warbler up. This year has been wonderful with all the warblers visiting, but I’ve really enjoyed seeing this little guy for several days. Until we meet again……….

Female American Redstart

This female redstart finally stayed put so I could get  a good photograph of her. She is so pretty when flying around showing off her lemony yellow tail feathers. It will be sad to these these beautiful birds continue on their journey. I always hope we can keep a few warblers around during the summer.

Magnolia Warbler

Magnolia Warbler

This is such a pretty warbler, but this year I’ve had a hard time getting a photograph of one. I wish this picture was clearer, but you do get to see just how beautiful they are. I’ve notice that the warblers are starting to continue their migration North, so spotting them in the yard now is far a few between.

All About the Babies…

Baby Canadian Geese

Couldn’t resist this picture. I took this photo right outside the dental office where I work.  It’s fun to watch these guys, but you have to keep your distance or mama and papa will let you know their displeasure.

No, it’s not a Chickadee..

Blackpoll Warbler

This little bird looks so much like a chickadee if you just glance at it, but it’s a Blackpoll Warbler.  I honestly didn’t know what I was photographing until I went to develop the photos. Needless to say, I was thrilled I had another warbler to add to my already expanding list of  new birds that have visited our yard this Spring.

Canada Warbler

Canada Warbler

This Canada Warbler was new to our yard this year, at least seeing him and being able to photograph this beautiful little bird. I’m so grateful that these little birds take the time out of the tree tops and come down where I can see them up close and personal.
