Sunny Sunflowers

A couple of years ago a friend told me about this beautiful Sunflower Field at Pope Park Farm in the Town of Middleton. I didn’t make it last year, but I didn’t want another year to go by without a visit to see this beautiful “yellow” field.  This day I visited it was bright blue skies and the field just glowed. It’s a popular park and worth the trip out to see it.

It’s Hot Outside…

It’s been no surprise that the midwest has been in a heat spell with high humidity for some time now.  Even this Purple Grackle seeks to cool off along with many other birds during the day.  This birdbath gets filled at least 5 – 6 times a day.  Thankfully, we have a pond and 2 other birdbaths that help all these birds keep cool and refreshed.

Pink Hibiscus

This beautiful hibiscus is one of the many beautiful blooms that can be seen at Olbrich Gardens. We’re extremely lucky to have this beautiful garden right here in town.

The Bellflower…

These bellflowers grow wild in our yard and the hummingbirds love them. We haven’t had that many hummingbirds this year as in the past, so I haven’t been able to capture a photo of one on these flowers. Hopefully, one will come along one of these days when I have my camera ready.

A Cool Thrush..

I believe this is a Swainson’s Thrush. He’s taking a little time out to cool off by the pond. I love the look of these birds with their spotted breasts.

Pond Water Lily..

Our pond looks really refreshing today and the water lilies are doing so well.  We haven’t had to buy any new water plants in the last few years as the water lilies have reproduced on there own.

Welcome Butterflies..

Butterfly Plant

I have the plant now,  I just have to wait for the butterflies. What a pretty color addition to our backyard. Now, let’s hope my darn bunnies don’t eat this one too.

Yellow Sunshine…

My yard is in full summer bloom now and I couldn’t pass up taking a photo of this beautiful yellow day lily.  These pictures always sustain me during the long, cold winters here in Wisconsin.

Naughty Bunny!

I may not have a very big garden, but these little bunnies sure know how to munch on the tender leaves of my pickling cucumber plants. With all the greenery we have in our yard, they eat the one thing they shouldn’t.

Brillant Color…..

Giving this Post a title was difficult, but I just kept coming back to “brilliant”.  At least, that’s what I see when I look at this beautiful blossom taken at Olbrich Gardens in Madison, WI. It you love flowers and the outdoors, Olbrich is the place to be.
