Ruby-throated Hummingbird

Thankfully these sweet hummingbirds are still around. I’m happy for each and everyday they are here! Fall is here, but the birds are still enjoying our yard and pond.

Hummingbird Moth

We have seen a lot of activity from these little moths that when you lst glance at them you think it’s a hummingbird. I happen to think they are quite unique and colorful. The summer season is winding down now and the migrating birds are coming through now, so it’s a bit bittersweet. I love the Fall season so much but I’m not a winter person and I’m dreading the long cold months. Well, keep your eyes peeled looking out for these small moths and say goodbye to our summer birds and wish then a safe journey! Until next Spring….

Where’s the Jelly…..

Baltimore Orioles

Baltimore Orioles

I have to say, I have had Baltimore Orioles galore devouring the grape jelly out of the jelly dish I put out for them the past couple of weeks.  We’d take the jelly dish in at night to keep the other critters from eating it and by 6 am the following morning you could hear the orioles “chatting” like crazy as if to say…..PUT OUT OUR JELLY!  It was such a treat to see as many as 6 orioles all lined up waiting their turn to eat. Sometimes I needed to refill the dish 3 times during the day. Well, I believe they have now started their long journey South for the winter and we sure will miss them.  Safe trip to all the migrating birds and can’t wait till next Spring for your return.

Hello Mr. Fox!

What can I say……a very cute fox came into our yard yesterday morning to enjoy a snack of bread we’d just thrown out for the squirrels and birds, but I guess Mr. Fox found it lst. It was pretty early in the morning and the light wasn’t very good, but I was still able to capture a couple of pictures of this beautiful animal. Even though we live in the city we still get a good amount of wildlife coming through. I remember early in the Spring we’d see these foxes going down the street. I have to say, they look a little better this time of year as I’m sure their food source has improved. Anyway, stop by anytime Mr. Fox and bring the Mrs. and kiddos too. We always enjoy your visits!
